Your first month checklist

The first month is mostly logistics. Treat it like a project with a short daily list rather than trying to finish everything at once.

Week 1

• Get a local SIM or eSIM and stable messaging apps
• Complete temporary residence registration if required for your housing
• Confirm medical-check and residence-permit appointments with HR

Week 2

• Open a bank account once documents are ready
• Set up Alipay and WeChat Pay
• Learn your metro line and a walking route to groceries

Weeks 3–4

• Settle utility and internet accounts into your own name if needed
• Locate a nearby clinic and pharmacy
• Start a light Mandarin habit — even ten minutes a day helps
